Of
particular interest to this community is the section Money Matters. As
self described, "This section is dedicated to managing money and ensuring
we are keeping it in the proper prospective. It also has articles to help
us deal with our fears of lack and increase our prosperity consciousness."
I
sincerely enjoyed the approach of this site concerning matters of money
because it emphasized the importance of money in our daily lives and therefore
offers great wisdom concerning money. Yet it does not allow money to be
king and "end-all" within our lives.
Prior
to about 2500 years ago, money did not exist. Barter was the method of
obtaining goods. If I needed shelter, I would pay you with one of my sheep.
But it was often difficult to carry a herd of sheep all the time to purchase
items so a system had to be developed to exchange something of value...
but easily carried. And so the gold coin was introduced in Lydia in the
Middle East.
But
somehow we allowed the possession of the gold or its equivalent to become
the goal. It became not a matter of "what do I need to take care of my
needs?" but rather, "How much can I accumulate?" And of course the smartest
traders realized the easiest way to gather more was to charge others for
the use of their own... and so credit with interest was established. The
end result is that the lender got richer and the borrower got poorer.
The
Money Matters articles try to put some order or perspective into the accumulation
of money as it may apply to the inner self. In other words, money is a
state of mind.
"...'Money'
is only a state of Mind; not a reality in, of, or for, itself. Many people
often seek it as if it were the real or the only ends to be obtained through
one's efforts. If money remains a state of Mind, therefore a spiritual
reality and not an end in itself, then you always will have what you truly
need and deserve. Money as an energy principle of spiritual reality, naturally
flows to us as we earn a right livelihood. Be concerned with the quality
of the service you give to others, not about any rewards you may receive
for the service, and you will be working with the flow."
Perhaps
this is a bit mystical or spiritual for some and yet it is a perspective
we do not often take into account... and maybe we should. But there are
over two dozen articles in this one section of Money Matters. Here are
just a few:
Let me conclude
with a portion of an article from the site called "Agape and Prosperity"
by José Stevens, Ph.D.:
"How do you
learn to love yourself? Self-acceptance is the first step. Self-agape requires
that you accept yourself as you are, warts and all. This means dropping
every particle of self-deprecation you can find. Now, many of you, especially
you older souls, think that putting yourselves down has value. You may
think that feeling bad about yourself will motivate you to do better or
be a better person. When have you ever seen this work?... self-deprecation
is never, never of value."
If you are
unable to see the connection of self love and money, you need this article
worse than you think.
